The article provides a brief overview of the formation of hand-made graphic inscriptions in the context of the development of the media environment in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, which is becoming increasingly aggressive and potentially destructive each year. In contemporary society, the struggle for the manipulation of public consciousness is intensifying as a result of globalization and informatization. At the same time, the spiritual and emotional dependence of the modern urban inhabitant on mass communication media is becoming increasingly evident. It is argued that the threat posed by information technologies lies in the undermining of the spiritual foundations of both the individual and society, as well as in the decline of universal moral values. As a consequence, a “crisis of identification” emerges, in which individuals are unable to find their place within the social environment and experience a sense of helplessness in relation to it. Most researchers agree that such processes stimulate the revival of local cultural identity. This aspiration for revival develops in conjunction with a growing interest in hand-made objects. Within this context, a tendency toward an increase in the number of aesthetically oriented inscriptions created by hand-made graphic methods can be observed. Since such inscriptions are produced directly through human labor, they establish a stronger emotional connection with the viewer and facilitate a more vivid perception of their informational content. One of the reasons for the active dissemination of hand-made graphic inscriptions is their uniqueness, which provides the viewers with a sense of authenticity, environmental friendliness and community. A significant number of people may participate in the creation of such inscriptions, and they do not necessarily need to possess certain professional artistic skills. These inscriptions emerged as a form of “art for the general public”, as they were intended to be perceived by a broad audience. The article examines the peculiarities of the formation of hand-made graphic inscriptions using the example of graffiti, calligraphy, and hand-drawn inscriptions within the context of the development of the media environment.References
